A MUM has been touched by a school's gesture in memory of a pupil who died tragically.
Kai Ben Lloyd, from Connah's Quay, died suddenly in November 2021. The 14-year-old was a much-loved member of the community, with hundreds of people attending his funeral.
Connah's Quay High School, where Kai attended, has now unveiled a bench designed in his memory.
Kai's mum, Lisa, said: "The moment we laid eyes on Kai Ben we knew he was going to be a very special boy. The kindness in that baby's eyes saw him grow into a very caring young man who always wanted everyone to be happy.
"He has left a massive hole in all our hearts. When the school asked if they could organise a charity event to raise money for an everlasting memorial to our boy, it truly showed how many hearts our boy touched in his 14 years on earth.
"The bench was designed in his memory and is beautiful as he is."

Kai would have finished school last summer, and Connah's Quay High wrote a touching poem which was included in the leaver's yearbook.
Lisa said: "When I was sent a copy of the yearbook it really showed how much he is missed by everyone at the school. I will forever be grateful for the kindness shown by the school and the community.
"Our boy will never be forgotten. My family is striving to raise awareness of the true epidemic that is mental health issues. Please reach out and talk."
