A NEW independent business is set to open in the heart of Wrexham before the end of the year.
Jessica Ball and Sophie Jacobson are long-term friends with a creative vision - and it will soon be brought to life in Wrexham.
'Creu' is set to be a female-led creative store/space selling handmade goods and hosting workshops which will open very soon on Hope Street, Wrexham.
Jessica, 32, said: "Sophie creates the most eye-catching and colourful outfits and accessories which she sells both online and in festival stalls.
"My online business is bleach-art (Juniper Clothing), which means I hand-draw designs onto fabric to create intricate patterns and designs.
"Sophie's designs are very bright and colourful, whereas my designs are dark and moody. We loved the idea of bringing these two visions together – sun and moon, or night and day."
Creu will be a manifestation of this vision and will also include other local artists to deliver high-quality, ethical and locally made products to the people of Wrexham.
Jessica continues: "It might seem crazy to be opening an independent shop in the current climate. The subject of the Wrexham high street is a controversial and ongoing matter.
"We hope the community will welcome and support another small business, hoping to be the change that you want and need to see."
A big part of the shop's vision will be to host craft and art workshops, explains Jessica, which will be open to the whole community including adults and children.

The workshops will range from pop-in children's activities to fun craft evenings for families, friends and couples.
The store will feature sustainable and ethically-sourced items which is something very important to both Jessica and Sophie, 35, and will be at the forefront of their mission as they progress.
The store is set to open before the end of the year, and with a lot to do in a small space of time, the women are eager to achieve their mission in a "beautiful historic shop."
