A MULTI-VEHICLE crash has reportedly occurred on the A55 near Broughton this morning (Tuesday, October 24).
Motorists have taken to social media to state that the incident has happened eastbound at the Wales-England border.
A witness describes it as a "very bad crash" which involves multiple-vehicles, including a HGV.
Another eyewitness told the Leader that 'at least three ambulances' were at the scene.
Traffic Wales has stated that its officers are currently at the scene of the J53A area of Broughton (as of 9.40am).
They are warning motorists to expect 'heavy congestion' there due to the road being blocked.
A traffic update reads: "A55 Eastbound closed, queueing traffic due to multi-vehicle accident from J36 A5104 Mold Road (Warren Bank Interchange) to J38 A483 Wrexham Road (Posthouse Roundabout). J36A is a restricted junction with no exit slip road."
An ambulance arrived at the scene at 10.10am, according to Traffic Wales, with drivers told to avoid the area 'if possible'.
As of 12.30pm, the carriageway has fully reopened and traffic has returned to normal.
