The local authority has provided an update on the main road closures across Wrexham, which are:

  • Cefn Road – Five Fords to Abenbury - Closed
  • Rosemary Lane, Burton - Closed
  • Broadoak Hall Lane, Burton - Closed
  • B5102 Holt to Rossett – Closed in parts, needs care
  • B5130 Ridleywood – Passable with care
  • B5426 Plassey Roundabout, near Whitehouse Farm – Passable with care

The council has also confirmed that its Plas Madoc recycling centre has closed due to flooding. Whilst their sites at Bryn Lane and the Lodge remain open, road conditions throughout the county remain difficult due to surface water and flooding.

Councillor Hugh Jones, Wrexham Council’s Lead Member for Environment, said: “I want to express my appreciation to the staff of the Environment Department who have responded to the numerous calls from residents to deal with flooding.  Roads have been closed and sand bags deployed in an attempt to minimise the impact of the storm.

“I am also grateful for the understanding and patience of residents recognising that we are responding at a time of a drastically reduced workforce due to industrial action. A number of staff have returned from leave in response to the call and their commitment is greatly appreciated.”
