A LLANGOLLEN resident has not let her age stop her from completing a 10 mile run in aid of Cancer Research UK.
Judy Smith, 78, completed the Great South Run on Sunday, October 15.
In total, she raised an incredible £534 for Cancer Research UK. Donations can be made here.
Judy, from Llangollen, ran in memory of her late friend Sandra Woodhall for the charity which is extremely close to her heart.
She said: "I did manage to complete the run on Sunday and in truth, it was quite good fun and I actually enjoyed myself.
“The atmosphere was fantastic, with 25,000 runners, lots of bands playing, and cheering people lining the streets make you feel good and keep you going - even if you can't quite manage four miles an hour. I wouldn't have wanted to do it again next day though.
“I would like to thank all those who so generously supported me and my heartfelt thanks to you all."

She had originally planned to participate in last month's event, the Great North Run, but unfortunately a broken wrist meant a change of plans.
Together with Sandra, Judy founded and organised the famous Llangollen Round Challenge back in 2012 which has raised many thousands of pounds for Cancer Research UK.
During her lifetime, Sandra raised more than half a million pounds for the charity, making the challenge even more special for Judy.
