THE FATHER of a toddler who sadly died last month has thanked Wrexham fans for holding a minute's applause in her honour during their latest victory.

Eleanor Hazel Aldred-Owen was just 12 weeks old when she was diagnosed with Craniosynostosis - a condition which caused the sutures in her head to fuse too early and affects the brain.

She was referred to Alder Hey Children's Hospital and placed under the care of staff there for 18 months.

The decision was made to opt for surgery to relieve pressure on the brain, but Eleanor tragically died aged 21 months old from complications in surgery on Friday, September 29.

She came from a family of Wrexham fans and was - according to them - 'destined to be a season ticket holder'.

Eleanor's family appealed to Reds fans to hold a minute's applause in her memory in their match against Salford City on Saturday (October 14), which saw Wrexham come from 2-0 down to win 3-2.

And the Reds faithful did just that, giving the family a moment to 'remember forever'.

Her dad Chaz and mum Rachel - who live in the Mold area - were in attendance for the match.

Fans carried out a round of applause for Eleanor in the 28th minute of the match - the family requested this as she had been born on December 28, 2021.

Chaz said: "We can't thank the fanbase and the club enough for all the support they've shown to us since Eleanor passed away.

"The minute's applause was an idea my wife Rachel had, it took root and grew and grew. We found the strength to be in attendance at the game, and as the 28th minute approached the anxiety sets in because we didn't know if it was going to happen or not.

The Leader: PIC: Chaz paid tribute to his daughter with her name on the back of his Wrexham shirt.

"But true to form, this fanbase did not disappoint. Everyone started applauding and the sound was truly overwhelming. Wrexham fans and Salford fans alike applauding for our little girl.

"It felt like Eleanor was with us, it made us calm and we knew we were going to be leaving the Racecourse with the three points. Even after going 2-0 down!

"I just want to say thank you again for everything you've all done for my family. We'll remember it forever."
