WELSH music legend Dafydd Iwan put on a performance to remember as Wales returned to the STok Cae Ras.

Cymru played their first match at Wrexham's home ground since 2019 on Wednesday evening (October 11).

And they certainly didn't disappoint in front of a sell-out crowd either, beating Gibraltar 4-0 in the friendly.

Goals from Kieffer Moore (2), Ben Davies and Nathan Broadhead gave north Wales football fans something to smile about.

But, also impressive was Welsh music icon Dafydd Iwan who belted out the iconic 'Yma O Hyd' song pre-match.

Fans were urged to arrive early in order to sing along with the hit tune, which has become synonymous with the Welsh football team in recent years.

And that resulted in a truly spine-tingling moment as international football returned to Wrexham for the first time since a 1-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago in 2019.

Legendary Welsh singer Iwan performed the iconic 'Yma O Hyd' hit along with the 33,000 spectators before Wales' famous 1-0 victory over Ukraine at the Cardiff City Stadium last year - which saw Rob Page's side qualify for their first World Cup in 64 years.

The song then shot up to the top of the ITunes charts as a result of being stuck in (nearly) every Welsh person's head!

'Yma O Hyd' - which translates to 'Still Here' in English - was originally released in 1981.

It tells the story of how Welsh people, the language and its culture has survived more than 2,000 years and has become the unofficial anthem for the Wales football team.
