READERS have been reminiscing about their favourite long-lost pubs, sharing which were their favourites - and here are the top responses.

The Leader asked readers to share which long-lost local pub they missed the most in Wrexham and Flintshire.

There's still so much on offer in the region, but what about the pubs from the good old days?

The Leader:

Among hundreds of responses, the most frequent answers featured 'The Kings Arms' on Bridge Street which was sadly demolished. Always playing the same songs at the same time each week, this pub was the place for darts and pool.

Maxine Davies on Facebook said: "I really miss Scott's nightclub in Wrexham. Had many happy years of memories and great nights out there. There are no others like it anymore."

The Talbot, located on Abbott Street in Wrexham appeared to be another much-loved favourite, with locals describing it as an 'epic night out.'

Sue Griffiths specifically remembers her favourite "pink elephant cocktail" order from there and would do anything to have it back, while Andy Williams admitted he enjoyed the "cellar bar with a jukebox and great atmosphere with brilliant music."

Aman Da said: "The Boathouse in Connah's Quay was brilliant in the 80s and early 90s. The Phoenix in Sandycroft was fab and so was the Central in Shotton. Let's not forget the fun pub just over the Blue Bridge either (The Old Ferry Hotel)."

Colin Beck went for The Little Ship back in the early 60s!

Many residents also reminisced about their first jobs at the pubs, including Lisa CJ who had her first waiting job for Sunday lunch at the City Arms in New Brighton.

OTHER NEWS

Other mentions included the Egerton, The Black Horse (now the Fat Boar), Feathers, Jolly Tavern, The Smithfield, Peppers, and the Coach and Horses in Rhos.

Nathan Evans and Dave Hughes enjoyed the Colliers Arms in Ponciau on a Friday night for a bottle of Wrexham Lager.

It's great to see so many favourites in Wrexham and Flintshire, with many comments encouraging residents to support local.
