A WREXHAM-based mother with breast cancer has won a recognition award for her novel dedicated to her daughter.

Hollie McFarlane, 43, was diagnosed with breast cancer in October last year.

While going through treatment for breast cancer, Hollie, from Gwersyllt, started writing a book for her daughter, Sydney, in an attempt to explain to her what was happening.

Sydney was only three when her mother was diagnosed.
