THE brother of a woman who founded North Wales Superkids is doing everything in his power to get his sister mobile again before one of her most important jobs of the year.
Margaret Williams, who has job almost as big at Santa's and every year aims to bring joy to children who are less fortunate in North Wales, founded the charity 25 years ago after a long career in social services.
This year, however, it is Margaret that is in need of a Christmas wish. The MBE recipient was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer and chronic heart failure and has spent many weeks in hospital. She has now improved but is unable to walk again.
Margaret desperately needs a mobility vehicle to get to her place of work, known as "the grotto" in Mold from her home in Flint, to be hands on once again, rather than be on the end of the phone to her volunteers who work non-stop throughout the year.
Brother Tony Flynn, who lives in Prestatyn and is a former Prestatyn mayor, said: "Never in my life have I met such a dedicated, giving and generous human being as Margaret.
"When she is made aware of a desperate story involving a child in North Wales, she pulls out all the stops and it's not wise to say no to her, because she will not give in. Some years ago when she heard of a young teenager who was terminally ill, who adored a high profile boy band, she organised for the band to go to the teenager's house, where they signed all his photos, pillows and clothing, giving a very generous amount of their time to this precious young man.
"Margaret, now 74 years old, has one boundary that she will not cross, she will never ask for anything for herself only for others but as her brother I most certainly can and humbly do."
Margaret is married to Geoff, who volunteers, and has daughter Becky who also volunteers at the charity and is a trustee. Margaret's sister Trish is bookkeeper and volunteer.
Tony expressed his thanks to the whole team of trustees and volunteers who are "always on hand to help."
Anyone able to help Tony access a mobility vehicle for his sister or is able to donate a vehicle or has any information that might help the family is asked to contact Tony on 07789502554.
