THREE WREXHAM restaurants have been nominated for a prize at the 2023 Asian Curry Awards.

A shortlist of more than 200 restaurants and takeaways across the UK has been announced in the battle to be named the best venue for Asian food.

Wrexham's Black Peppers, IJazz and Maahi's have all been shortlisted for an award.

In the regional categories of the 2022 Asian Curry Awards, Ijazz, located on Egerton Street in Wrexham, was named North Wales' Asian Restaurant of the Year.

Maahi's took the same title just a year before that and Black Peppers has also been recognised with many separate awards previously.

Now, it is once again up to the public to vote for their regional favourite venue here.

The 13th edition of the Asian Curry Awards finals - dubbed 'The Curry Oscars' - will then take place from 5pm on Sunday, November 19 at Grosvenor House in London where the winner will be crowned.

The list of over 200 venues across the country will now be whittled down to the top hundred by online votes from members of the spice loving public.

These will be then assessed by a panel of judges from the Asian Catering Federation (ACF), who will determine category winners.

“We’re seeing some remarkable innovation by pioneering restaurateurs, adapting to challenging trading conditions and more sophisticated customer preferences,” said ACF Chairman Yawar Khan.

He added: “Afternoon chai, weekend brunch, more use of quality local produce – especially seafood and game, are now being widely served.”
