A NEW Friday evening event of live music is kicking off this year's Mold Food & Drink Festival.
The Abba Tribute Mamma Mania band will be playing, as well as support acts, on the New Street car park this Friday (September 15).
Gates open at 6pm, and pre-booking has been advised. Tickets can be bought online at bit.ly/3Rhrn9X.
This year's festival includes two new features - the live music on Friday night and the Big Festival Breakfast deal on Sunday morning (tickets for this have sold out).
Friday evening's event is for over 18s only due to licensing restrictions.
The main food and drink festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday. There will be cookery demonstrations throughout the day from chefs, and dozens of food and drink stalls.
Gareth Williams, the new chair of the organising committee, says he is “excited” about this year’s event.
He said: “We will be bringing the best of Welsh culinary talent to our Food Theatre and also for the first time holding a brand-new music event on the Friday evening with an Abba tribute band, Mamma Mania, plus supporting acts.
“Our main exhibitor's marquee is full to the brim with all that Wales and local suppliers have to offer to suit all tastebuds. We also have an amazing array of children's entertainment from famous cartoon characters roaming the festival grounds to theatre, dance and rides. Our music stage will again be hosting local bands throughout the weekend.”
He added: “For the first time, we've also introduced the Big Breakfast on Sunday - where full breakfasts can be booked at three of Mold's cafes for £12 which also includes admission to the Festival on Sunday.
“We are grateful to the support of Mold Town Council and Flintshire County Council as well as sponsor support from The Gathering, Harlech Foods, Penderyn whisky and Cresta cars.
“To enable as many people as possible to access the festival, we have discounted pre-booked tickets [which] are still available including an extended offering for all children aged 4-18 of £1 or free for under 4's.”
