THE BUS company which pulled the plug on its school and public transport in Flintshire says it has reversed its decision.
The Leader reported on Friday evening that Flintshire Council announced that Townlynx had ceased its operations in the county.
The council said it had been informed by the company that all its services had come to an end as of Friday (September 8).
The shock announcement left one school telling parents that a "walking bus" would be in operation on Monday.
However, in the latest development Townlynx, which provides some 18 different school bus services in Flintshire, has said it has reversed the decision.
Mark Kearney, transport manager at Townlynx Ltd, told The Leader later on Friday: "I can confirm that following a last minute meeting between the management of Townlynx Ltd the decision has been made to continue with operations as close to normal as possible.
"I understand that the previous announcement today (Friday) may have caused distress or inconvenience to those affected by the situation, to which I can only apologise.
"I would like to thank all of our passengers for their support and understanding with this."
Mr Kearney said he has emailed Flintshire Council informing the authority of the U-turn.
"However, I fear it may have arrived after they had left for the weekend," he said.
Mr Kearney said services will largely be operating as normal on Monday morning.
Flintshire Council has since issued a statement that it has had official confirmation from Townlynx that the company has reversed its decision.
