A MAJOR school bus service supplier in Flintshire has ceased providing services. 

Flintshire Council has said that Townlynx Bus Services will not be operating any transport services after today (Friday September 8).

A spokesperson said the council was only informed of the news of the company ceasing all services at lunch time today.

They said: "This means that no school transport buses, college transport buses and public transport services operated by Townlynx Bus Services will operate from tomorrow onwards (from Saturday, September 9).

Transport Services operated by other bus companies will continue to be provided as normal.

The council spokesperson said: "A significant number of pupils will be affected by this announcement and, unfortunately, despite our best efforts, there are insufficient resources amongst other transport operators to cover services at such short notice. 

"We recognise that this will cause significant disruption to parents, pupils and public transport passengers; however, please rest assured that we are doing everything possible to secure replacement services and we will keep you updated as things progress.

"Both eligible and fare paying pupils will be affected and, as such, all pupils will be required to make alternative transport arrangements to and from school as of Monday, September 11 until further notice."
