PLANS have been submitted to turn a former town centre Barclays bank into a sports bar.
A planning application has been lodged with Flintshire Council to revamp the vacant unit on Church Street in Flint.
The ground floor of the premises, formerly home to a Barclays branch which shut in 2021, would be turned into a bar. The first and second floors would be turned into two flats.
A planning statement submitted with the application said: "The proposal will comprise of a bar, sports bar, kitchen, toilets, seating area and beer garden to the ground floor. And two number flats consisting of a dining/living room, kitchen, bathroom and three bedrooms to the first and second floors.
"External alterations are to be carried out to the main building frontage by the installation of a new frontage to the ground floor which is a traditional timber fenestration to the shop front which is sympathetic to the wider street scene. The proposal retains the proportions and character of the original building."

The proposed opening hours of the bar are 12pm to 11pm Monday to Saturday, and midday to 9pm on Sundays. Parking would be available only to residents of the upstairs flats.
If given the go-ahead, the scheme would create five full-time and three part-time jobs.
