THE sun shone and a community came together, for an annual fundraising event.

This year's Harry's Duck Race took place at Pontblyddyn Cricket Club on Sunday, and Wrexham Mayor, Cllr Andy Williams was on hand to start the fun, as well as judge the dressed ducks.

On the beautifully sunny day the community, who had generously purchased ducks, gathered to enjoy a barbecue, whilst raising £2,500 towards funds for Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith children's hospices.

"Every penny raised will help us make a real difference to local children and families with our services."

The race and fun day is a memorial event held each year by the family of Harry Jones, who died in his sleep in 2015 aged four.

After Harry died his family received care at Hope House and used their special Snowflake Suite, as well as receiving counselling.
