RESIDENTS of a Flintshire village are being warned over a criminal tactic which involves leaving soft toy Christmas gnomes in people's gardens.
The Leader reported that North Wales Police had raised concerns over two 'suspicious' men who were seen dropping items into people's gardens in Broughton.
The incidents in question took place on Somerford Road there on the morning of Friday, September 1, police have said.
The two men were reportedly looking at properties and placing items into residents' gardens - including the soft toy gnomes.

A statement from the NWP South Flintshire explained: "We are aware of a report of individuals in the #Broughton area leaving Christmas gnomes in residential front gardens.
"This type of behaviour is sometimes used as a “calling card” to see if the gnome is collected by the resident. If not, the property is likely to be empty and could be an easy target for burglaries.
"We would advise residents to be vigilant and ensure your home is secure. Anyone who witnesses anything suspicious is urged to contact us via our website or through 101."
