A POLICE operation has been launched to tackle off-road bike use at Pandy Slag Heap.
North Wales Police's Wrexham Rural team revealed details of the initiative over the weekend.
A spokesman for the team said: "Operation Gravel is a new Neighbourhood Policing Team operation set to tackle the issues with off road bikes on the Pandy Slag heap.
"It was launched [on Saturday] with high visibility patrols in the area and warnings given to any bikers found on the site.

Officers attended at the slag heap on Sunday, and reported five off road bikes "made off from the site."

A spokesman added: "Footage is being compiled to identify the riders and vehicles.
"As per the signage, the driving of mechanically propelled vehicles is prohibited.
"There is a danger to members of the public who may be walking in the area, and to those who ride in the area."
