A CANCER support group in Wrexham has been left 'overwhelmed' by funds raised during an international cricket match.
Brymbo Cricket Club played host last weekend to a clash between a North Wales team and a South African Select XI.
The Welsh side ran out winners in the charity game, but it could be argued the real winners were the events charity partner, the Wrexham Prostate Cancer Support Group.
The support group has been fundraising for specialist equipment at the Maelor Hospital for over two years, as they edge closer and closer to their £60,000 target.

The group has organised raffles, silent auctions, and golf days in an attempt to secure the potentially life-saving equipment.
The cricket match raised over £1,500 for the group, which left secretary Phil Jones 'overwhelmed'.
He said: “I was quite overwhelmed when Clive approached me but he had a strong awareness of what our group are all about by way of supporting men in our region who have symptoms or have been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer.
"Our next meeting is on September 6 at 7pm at the Trevor Arms, Marford and we warmly welcome new members."
