A FOODBANK set up to help people cope with the cost of looking after their pets has officially moved to a new site this week.
Post-pandemic, there has been an increase in the number of people who are having to give up their beloved pets as they can no longer afford to look after them, particularly due to the cost of living crisis.
That is why Mel Oldfield, from Hawarden, set up the P.E.T. (Pets Eat Today) Foodbank in August 2022 - with the hope of preventing such situations from arising.
Having been based out of an outbuilding behind the White Bear pub in Mancot, the foodbank has already become a success story in its year-long existence to date.
However, as demand has soared, there has also been a greater need for a bigger premises for the foodbank to be based in.
And this week, the team enjoyed its first session at its new home.
The foodbank held its first session at the Ewloe Sports and Social Club on Thursday, August 31.
P.E.T. founder Mel says she is 'delighted' with the new premises.
She added: "The first session in our new home Ewloe Sports & Social Club went really well.
"It was so lovely to see so many customers and be back helping them feed their pets.
"The office is looking fab and worked so well, we especially love our new hatch!
"We are very grateful to Paul at the social club for welcoming us in here so warmly."
