A WREXHAM micro-brewery has been named among the top food and drink producers globally at this year's Great Taste awards.
Magic Dragon Brewing, based at the Plassey Holiday Park, picked up a highly prized two-star Great Taste award for its Old Magic dark mild beer.
More than 14,000 products were put through the competition's rigorous blind judging process; and Old Magic was dubbed a “real comfort beer” , at the coveted food and drink awards.

Some 4,088 products were awarded a Great Taste one-star - 'food and drink that delivers fantastic flavour', 1,568 were awarded a Great Taste two-star - 'above and beyond delicious', and 248 were awarded a Great Taste three-star - 'extraordinarily tasty food and drink'.
Described as “a mild ale has a deep chestnut colour. It is a very smooth, deceptive ale for 3.6%. The judges enjoyed its rounded palate and the subtle chocolate notes are pleasing”, proving a big hit with the Great Taste judges.
Made with wheat, barley, Welsh water and new world hops, the Old Magic was one of 5,904 products to receive a Great Taste award in 2023 (which is only 41.6% of the total products entered).

Liz Lever from Magic Dragon Brewing said: “We are thrilled to have won a Great Taste award for our Old Magic Mild. We are so proud to be adding the prestigious black and gold Great Taste badge of honour to our bottle of Old Magic.
"We’re so impressed that a our dark mild has won two stars as the ale style has been making a bit of comeback. We have now won a Great Taste award of our bottled beers three years in a row.
“Great Taste is the most recognised accolade for taste and quality in the food and drink industry, so it’s a huge moment for us!“
Magic Dragon Brewing started in 2017 with a husband and wife team and has now built a core range of six styles of beer.
