WREXHAM Swimming Club has achieved outstanding results in the Welsh National Championships this month.

Wrexham Swimming Club has had an incredible end to this year's season achieving huge success at both the World Master Championships in Japan and the Welsh National Championships in Swansea at the beginning of August. 

Kim Ripley took the World's by storm where she smashed her very own Welsh Record in the 50m Breaststroke with a time of 38.6 seconds to secure a 3rd place and bronze medal. She also achieved a further two 6th places in both 100m and 200m breaststroke.

The Leader:

A very strong team of 24 Wrexham swimmers attended the Welsh Nationals aged between 11 and 18 years old.

Joanne Andrews, 13, stole the show and is now a five-time Welsh National Champion, cementing her place in the Welsh Squad for the next season. 

Reece Linge, 11, also won his first medals at a National Championships achieving Sliver in 200M and 50M Backstroke and Bronze in 50M Fly, 100M Backstroke and 50M breaststroke.

Out of the performance clubs in Wales, Wrexham came second with Cardiff top, with more finalists than any other club. This is a huge achievement considering there are no long course pools in North Wales.

An impressive total of 20 swimmers made the finals and top 8 spots out of the 24 who attended the championships.

Kerry Jones, Wrexham Swimming Club Treasurer, said: "Whilst the medals are all very impressive the statistics of the whole team are ever more impressive and show what you can achieve with hard work and dedication."
