WREXHAM co-owner Rob McElhenney has spoken after the announcement of goalkeeper Ben Foster's retirement.

After coming out of retirement at the end of last season to help the squad secure the National League title, Ben Foster announced his retirement yesterday.

Rob McElhenney said: "The Hand of Foz” will go down as one of Wrexham’s greatest moments.

"Thank you for that 96th min save and thank you for everything you’ve done Ben Foster you absolute legend."

The Hollywood star followed in Ryan Reynolds' footsteps, who also shared a heartfelt message on social media.

Ryan said: "He built memories I'll never let go of for as long as I live. I love this guy. Thank you for everything, Ben."

The ex-England keeper's iconic penalty save against Notts County last season will go down in the club's history.

However, Foster has now decided to call time on his remarkable career after just four games in League Two after admitting that his performance is not at the level he would hope.

Both Rob and Ryan have expressed their admiration and respect for the keeper, who will go down in history among many AFC fans.
