WREXHAM Co-owner Ryan Reynolds has sent Ben Foster a heartfelt message after he announced his retirement.

The 40-year-old keeper came out of retirement at the end of last season to help the Reds clinch the National League title.

After the iconic penalty save against Notts County, the ex-England keeper penned a one-year extension at the STōK Cae Ras, with hopes of achieving back-to-back promotions.

However, after just four games, Foster has decided to call time on his illustrious career.

He told manager Phil Parkinson following the Reds' chaotic 5-5 draw against Swindon Town on Saturday.

Foster said: “The honest truth is that my performances this season haven’t reached the level I demand of myself and I feel that now is the right time to retire.

“At the forefront of my mind when making this decision, was not only what was best for me but also the club, and making the decision now gives the club every opportunity to assess their options before the window closes.

“Wrexham will always have a special place in my heart.”

Now Deadpool star Ryan has sent a message to Foster following his retirement.

Ryan said: "He built memories I’ll never let go of for as long as I live. I love this guy. Thank you for everything, Ben."

Ryan was clearly a huge fan of Foster and made that clear after interrupting a press conference to take his playing shirt after the title-winning 3-1 over Boreham Wood.

Despite playing less than 40 games for the Reds during both spells, Foster will go down as a club legend amongst most fans.
