A MEMBER of the Senedd has slammed the lack of parking for residents on an estate in Wrexham.

Residents of Fenwick Drive, Wrexham have become increasingly frustrated with the limited number of parking spaces on the estate.

The issue has been ongoing for years according to Richard Williams, with people unable to park their cars near their homes.

Many residents would use the greens on the estate to park, however, they are unable to do so after wooden pillars were put in place to prevent it.

One resident said that there are currently around 14 cars but only eight spaces, with concerns that parking on pavements could lead to an accident.

Some residents have even gone to the lengths of selling their cars due to the "inconvenience" of having nowhere to put them.

Sam Rowlands MS, recently visited Fenwick Drive to speak to frustrated residents over their parking issues and labelled the situation as 'not good enough'.

Mr Rowlands has called on Wrexham Council to improve the situation.

He said: “I’ve visited the area and seen the lack of parking first-hand, and it is simply not good enough for the residents who rightly expect a place to park near their homes.

“It’s clear that there is more than enough room for parking spaces to be put in. There is no excuse for the council and its local councillor to not act swiftly on this matter for the benefit of local residents”.

A spokesperson for Wrexham Council said: “We have been in correspondence with Sam Rowlands MS to explain the situation and we can only reiterate that there is not enough room for any more than two parking plots at this site.”
