A PERSON was taken to hospital following a road traffic collision (RTC) near Wrexham yesterday. 

Emergency services were called to the scene of an RTC on the A525 near Horseman's Green just before 5.30pm. 

The road was closed by North Wales Police for a number of hours, with traffic on the Welsh/Shropshire border severely affected. 

The Welsh Ambulance Service confirmed that one patient was transferred to the Royal Stoke University Hospital following the collision.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called yesterday (17 August), at approximately 5.23pm, to reports of a two vehicle road traffic collision in the Horseman’s Green area of Whitchurch.

“We sent one Cymru high acuity response unit, one advanced paramedic practitioner, one emergency ambulance and one air ambulance to the scene where we were assisted by colleagues from the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service who travelled by air.

“We conveyed one patient by road to the Royal Stoke University Hospital for further treatment."

A North Wales Police spokesperson said: "We were called at 5.31pm yesterday by colleagues at WAST reporting a RTC involving a car and a motorbike at Horseman’s Green, Whitchurch.

"Officers attended alongside WAST and Helimed, and the road was closed until approximately 9pm."
