A ROAD closure should be changed during matches at the STōK Racecourse, a police inspector has said.

The Leader reported earlier this week how concerns had been raised over the safety of parking near the Racecourse on match days.

Following Tuesday's match against Walsall FC, Wrexham Inspector Luke Hughes said the traffic management measures "need a review."

He explained: "Having attended the game last night I was surprised to see a few changes to the model that worked more slickly last season.

"I think we need to push back one of the closures towards the sorting office, and I see no reason when foot traffic is light that traffic should not flow to the left on Mold Road.

"But only from the roads opposite the speed camera and up towards the B&Q roundabout.

"All will be fed back to the traffic management company who I’m sure are doing their best, we are all learning."

The Inspector also discovered a novel way residents have been making a bit of extra money.

He added: "It became apparent that quite a few residents are now renting their drives out using a parking app.

"I applaud the grasping of an opportunity that could bring in a little revenue; take advantage, why not.

"But it does lead to a slightly different dynamic, so bear with us whilst we amend things to suit."
