AN ACCLAIMED drag artist from Flintshire is leading a team up Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) this weekend for charity.

Ian Davies, better known as Shaggerada, will be joined by footballers, rugby players and others dressed in full drag as they climb Wales' highest mountain this Sunday (August 20).

The event is to help raise vital funds and awareness for The Counselling Hub charity. The Flintshire-based charity helps offer support to those affected by thoughts of suicide and self-harm, and helps with depression and anxiety management.

Paula Ringeval, CEO of the charity, said: "I would like to extend sincere thanks to all of those that are partaking in the fundraiser, those that have sponsored us and those that show us kindness week in week out.

"Our volunteers are truly amazing. Ian is an outstanding person that has made unequivocal differences to so many lives. A true example of the Pride of Britain. This event is sure to be full of laughs and heartfelt conversations while supporting those that need it most."

Ian Davies, from Mold, added: "Everyone is affected by some sort of mental health issues sometime in their lives and sadly struggle to get the help needed. After studying and qualifying in psychotherapy for years to address some of my own quirks (issues) I became a part-time clinical psychologist with other organisations and networks.

"I also find immense purpose raising money and awareness for The Counselling Hub - dedicated to suicide prevention, and anxiety and depression management which is a remarkable nonprofit charity."

A GoFundMe page has been set up ahead of the event which has so far raised over £650. It can be donated to via https://bit.ly/3XiDzIy.
