A MAN has been jailed after breaching a suspended sentence just days after it was imposed.

David Williams, of Tanat Way, was produced in custody at Wrexham Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning.

The 36-year-old admitted having breached his criminal behaviour order, which was put in place to prohibit him from being drunk in a public place in Wrexham.

Prosecutor Justin Espie told the court that at around 3.30pm on Monday, North Wales Police received a call from CCTV operators, who had spotted the defendant on Wrexham High Street.

When officers arrived, he was "drunk and incoherent."

He'd received a suspended sentence for five identical offences just four days prior to that.

Melissa Griffiths, defending, told the court her client "never causes the police any issues," was not abusive and did not resist arrest.

"He goes with them willingly-" she said, "it's simply the case that he'd been spotted by CCTV operators.

"He accepts he is in a very serious position today.

The Leader:

"It's a further breach of the court order and now the suspended sentence as well.

"He does have learning difficulties and had a difficult childhood."

Ms Griffiths added her client is an alcoholic who "drinks on a daily basis."

The court activated the 10 weeks suspended sentence imposed last week for the previous five breaches and added two weeks consecutive for the latest one - making a total sentence of 12 weeks immediate custody.
