A YOUNG mum has been left "overwhelmed" by the support of a Flintshire community after "losing everything" following a house fire.

Last week, a property in a row of terraced houses on the High Street in Connah's Quay went up in flames.

The house was gutted by the fire, and it left neighbouring properties badly smoke damage.

One of them belongs to Rhianne Howarth - who lives there with her two-year-old daughter.

She was in the process of decorating her daughter's room ahead of her third birthday - but has instead found herself homeless following the incident.

Rhianne is said to have "lost pretty much everything" due to smoke damage, and an appeal for donations of clothes and other essentials was launched.

The Boathouse bar in Connah's Quay has acted as a drop-off point, and Rhianne said she can't believe the amount of support she's received.

The 23-year-old said: "I cannot thank everyone enough for the help we’ve been given through this hard and devastating time.

"I am genuinely overwhelmed by the generosity from everyone. I've no idea how many items we've received - there are so many and there's still more coming in.

"A massive thank you again - it all means the world to us."

After Rhianne shared a video on social media of her daughter, Peyton, with some of the toys she's had donated, dozens of people reacted - describing it as "precious" and "heartwarming".

A police investigation into the cause of the fire remains ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact North Wales Police on 101 quoting reference A126629.
