People took to social media to post photos of the vehicle being ridden by a couple on Saturday.
One person posted a video of the car boat travelling along the canal through Froncysyllte, accompanied with the caption: "Never a dull moment in Fron..."
Another added: "This is something you don’t see everyday on the canal.
"Started to panic when I saw a car coming towards us. Someone’s been watching a bit too much Top Gear."

The first of its kind was the The Amphicar Model 770 - an amphibious automobile which was launched at the 1961 New York Auto Show.
It was made in West Germany and marketed from 1961 to 1968, with production ceasing in 1965.
But unlike the Amphicar car, the vehicle seen on Saturday was a car that had been converted into a boat.
