AN APPEAL for witnesses has been launched following a serious house fire in Deeside last night (August 9).

Firefighters were called to the incident at a property on the High Street in Connah's Quay at 9.35pm. 

A North Wales Fire and Rescue Service (NWFRS) spokesperson said one appliance from Deeside and two from Flint attended the incident - which remained ongoing this morning (Thursday). 

The property is said to have suffered "100 per cent fire damage". 

The spokesperson added that it is thought that no one was inside the house when the incident occurred. Fire investigators are now working with North Wales Police to establish the cause of the blaze. 

Now, North Wales Police have issued an appeal for witnesses or information following the incident.

A statement from the force read: "North Wales Police are appealing for any witnesses or information regarding a housefire on Connah's Quay High Street last night the 9th of August which occurred at around 21:50hrs.

"Anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage please contact 101 quoting reference A126629.

"High visibility patrols will be in the area over the coming days for reassurance."

Fire crews were called to the property a second time at 3.30am as a result of reignition of timbers within the roof space of the property.

Police blocked off a section of the High Street the Festival Gardens due to the incident and the road was re-opened this morning. 

Connah's Quay councillor Bernie Attridge last night took to Facebook to describe it as a "serious house fire".
