POLICE in Wrexham have provided an update on the poisoning incident which has left a dog in a 'critical condition'. 

Yesterday, the Leader reported that a section of Price's Lane park was sectioned off after a dog had eaten food laced with poison. 

Cllr Marc Jones confirmed that police were investigating after the food was placed next to a badger sett. 

Now, Wrexham's Police Inspector Luke Hughes has issued an update on the incident.

Insp Hughes said: "I can confirm that officers are investigating an incident after a dog is in a critical condition after eating what is understood to have been deliberately contaminated food.

"It is reported the incident took place on the park near to Price’s Lane, Wrexham, shortly after 10pm on Monday (August 7th).

"The dog is said to have eaten the food that was left in undergrowth near to a badger set whilst out walking in the area with its owner and is now seriously ill.
