WREXHAM AFC talisman Paul Mullin has confirmed that he is on his way back to the UK, after staying longer than planned in the USA due to injury.

The striker is missing the start of the club's League Two campaign due to an injury sustained during the pre-season tour of the USA.

A clash with goalkeeper Nathan Bishop in the 3-1 win over Manchester United saw Mullin suffer a punctured lung.

The 28-year-old missed Wrexham's 5-3 defeat to MK Dons and last night's penalty shoot-out Carabao Cup win over Wigan Athletic - and it is as yet unclear just how long he will be absent for.

But, Mullin has confirmed that he has now made his way back to the UK following the US Tour.

After the win over Wigan, Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson joked with Sky Sports that Mullin 'wasn't answering his phone'

The man himself then tweeted a picture from his seat on the plane back via United Airlines and said: "BRB (be right back), data ran out."

During the interview, Parkinson added: "He hasn't been answering his phone for a few days, which you can't blame him.

"He will be back with us and it's when he comes back in the next few days we will be able to assess, see a specialist and see how long he is going to be out for."

Mullin was in unbelievable form last season as he netted 46 in 51 matches to help Wrexham win the National League title and promotion back to the English Football League.

Here's hoping we'll be seeing him back on the pitch soon!
