THE MS for Alyn and Deeside has spoken out on the importance of allotments following a visit to one in his own constituency.
This week (August 7-13) marks National Allotment week, celebrating the benefits of allotment gardening for communities, individuals, and the planet.
Local Member of the Senedd Jack Sargeant recently visited Dobshill allotments to mark the occasion and see first-hand recent improvements made to the site.
Having been contacted by a local resident who expressed that the allotments needed some TLC, Jack worked with Flintshire Council for a new fence to be installed.

Investments have also been made in the water harvesting system on site with help from the Welsh Government’s Allotment Support Grant.
Following his visit, Mr Sargeant said: “It’s fantastic to see the improvements that have been made possible thanks to the hard work of Flintshire Council’s Joe Barlow and investment from the Welsh Labour government.
"I will continue to work with the council and encourage them to bid for additional Welsh Government grant funding for further similar improvements.
“Allotments have many benefits for gardeners’ mental and physical wellbeing as well as for local nature and I would encourage anyone interested to head to the National Allotment Society website to find out more.”
