A woman has been airlifted to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries following the collision near Mold earlier today, police have said.
The Leader reported earlier this morning on the ongoing road closure following a collision involving a BMW and a bus on the A5119 in Sychdyn.
North Wales Police was alerted to the incident at 7.23am, following which emergency services were called to the scene.
The driver of the BMW was airlifted by the Air Ambulance to hospital in Aintree.
Sergeant Stephen Richards of the Roads Policing Unit is appealing for witnesses.
He said: “I’m urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision, and who is yet to speak to us, or anybody who was travelling in the area and who may have dash cam footage that could assist the investigation, to contact us immediately.
“The road will remain closed for a considerable period of time so I’d like to thank motorists and the local community in advance for their patience and understanding.”
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service also sent a crew to the scene, with firefighters assisting in transferring the BMW driver into the care of the air ambulance team.
The Welsh Ambulance Service sent two emergency ambulances, one Cymru high acuity response unit and one duty operational manager to the scene.
A spokesman said: "One patient was taken to the Countess of Chester hospital by road, and a second patient was taken to Aintree hospital via air.”
