ONGOING issues with anti-social behaviour at Wrexham bus station are continuing to frustrate the city's police force.

Wrexham city centre police have had concerns over behaviour from youths at the bus station for a number of months, much to the frustration of Inspector Luke Hughes.

Additional measures were introduced earlier this year in an attempt to reduce the number of incidents, which initially saw improvements.

However, in recent weeks the issues have started to resurface.

Dispersal orders have been put in place and arrests have been made, with hopes of deterring any further incidents.

Insp Hughes said: "I continue to get angry about the behaviour of a very small number of youths (many who don’t even live in Wrexham) but continue to converge in the city centre, which resulted in another incident at the now notorious bus station yesterday afternoon (July 30). Something I’m deeply ashamed of.

"In fact, just before the start of the summer holiday, things were really starting to come together.

"Sadly, it feels we have achieved nothing at the moment. I know a huge effort has gone into trying to fix this issue and of course, I am grateful to all staff and partners involved. It's just really frustrating.

"However, following an arrest yesterday, and their subsequent ban from the city centre, I’m hopeful we can start to get back to normal.

"As a precaution, I have sent some paperwork to all local Inspectors that may cover out of hours, and who can now issue further dispersal orders if required."
