TRIBUTE has been paid to a 'gentle giant' from Wrexham.
Maurice Cargius, known to many as Mo, died on July 1, 2023, suddenly but peacefully, after a short illness.
The 68-year-old, from New Broughton, had been the owner of Mamas and Papas Pizzeria in Wrexham and worked in taxi services for more than 30 years.
Brother Nat Cargius said: "He was a gentle giant, a very quiet man with a particular sense of humour.

"He was an innocent in a lot of respects and a guy you couldn't help but like. And as a big brother he could wind you up but he had a good heart."
Mo started his pizza bar business Mamas and Papas on Bridge Street in Wrexham in the 1980s, using his mother's recipe, which went on to be a success, including five take away delivery vans. This was followed by opening the restaurant next door, where "anyone who was anyone" would end up.

Nat added: "Outside of his family, his big love was Wrexham AFC, we've all been fans for a long time, and Mo was a season ticket holder, like myself.
"He loved the club and followed them everywhere, including Wembley.
"When he finally gave up the pizza business, he was involved in the taxi business, mainly doing airport runs.
"He had his own sense of humour and if something tickled him, it really tickled him.
"I will miss his smile and his kindness."
