THE WELCOME to Wrexham documentary helped put Wrexham AFC and its surrounding community well and truly on the map last year.

That, coupled with the takeover of the club by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, has helped the Wrexham name find fame all around the world.

The documentary, which aired on Disney Plus, shone a spotlight on the club's rollercoaster history, as well as the many unique characters who show their devotion to the Reds week in, week out.

And that community spirit has certainly resonated with those living across the pond, who have also become infatuated with all things Wrexham.

That has been clear to see already this summer, as the Reds embark on a pre-season tour of the USA.

Wrexham-mania arrived in North Carolina earlier this week as they took on - and unfortunately lost 5-0 to - Premier League giants Chelsea in front of a near 51,000-strong crowd.

And there was also some love shown for a Wrexham pub which has gained worldwide attention since appearing on Welcome to Wrexham.

The Turf lies in the shadow of the Racecourse ground and is a must-visit for Wrexham fans on a matchday.

Since the takeover of Wrexham AFC, it has been visited by Rob and Ryan on numerous occasions, as well as by Hollywood stars like Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd who have popped along for a pint.

Landlord Wayne Jones has also become a recognisable face since appearing on the show.

And both Wayne and the Turf (sort of) were in North Carolina ahead of the match against Chelsea this week.

That is because a pop-up version of the popular pub was installed at a fanzone pre-match.

You can play a game of spot the difference between the real thing and the tribute via a Tweet from Wrexham fan Craig Jones below ...

Fans also had the chance to enjoy some of Ryan Reynolds' Aviation Gin and tuck into a barbecue.

Plenty of red dragons and Wales flags were also spotted around the place as Wales and Wrexham took over in Chapel Hill.
