BUCKLEY schoolchildren joined forces with police to help keep their community safe.

Pupils from Westwood Primary School went out on patrol with PCSO Rachael Duddle and her colleagues as part of the 'Mini Police' initiative.

Flintshire South Inspector Iwan Jones said: "The Mini Police have been out and about looking at crime prevention, speed awareness and other community spirited activities.

"This builds trust between the children, the community and the police and it's vital for social integration.

"It also allows the children to have pride in what they do, as they do have a uniform and can experience the discipline that the force brings.

"It also gives them a voice as we ask what they want to see in their community."
PCSO Duddle has also been working with pupils to run a poster competition.

A spokesman for the Flintshire South police team added: "The young crime fighters have created posters to help deter anti-social behaviour, and when they return to school in September will be out on foot patrol around the town to hand out the posters to local shop keepers."
