PRESSURE is building to ban dogs from a park in Wrexham following another 'upsetting' dog attack.

In recent months there has been a spike in dog attacks at Rhosddu Park.

A number of concerns have been raised by residents after both people and other dogs have been bitten.

Inspector Luke Hughes has been vocal in encouraging owners to keep control of dogs while using the park.

North Wales Police are working together with local councillor Marc Jones to try and resolve the issues, which appear to continue.

On Tuesday (July 18) Cllr Jones confirmed there had been two new dog attacks in the park and revealed the extent of the injuries to one dog.

He also added that pressure is ramping up to ban dogs from the park following the recent attacks, something he is against.

He said: "I’m afraid there have been two new dog attacks in Rhosddu Park. You can see how badly injured one small dog was after being attacked by a larger dog off the lead.

"This is the fourth attack in a month. They are four different dogs as far as I can tell and vet bills run into the thousands. The attacks have been hugely upsetting for the dog owners.

"There’s pressure growing to ban dogs completely from the park.

"I don’t support that - the park is one of the few green spaces we have - but that pressure will increase if people don’t control their dogs.

"Please act responsibly. I know the majority of regular users are responsible but there can be no more incidents. If a dog can attack another dog there’s nothing to say they won’t bite a child.

"As a dog owner, please take responsibility for your dog."
