PLANS to honour a Wrexham AFC superfan are being considered by the club's chairmen.

Ian ‘Jacko’ Roberts was the main singer in the Kop for many years and later the Glyndwr University Stand.

Jacko was dubbed the 'King of the Kop' by fellow fans who joined him in cheering on his beloved Reds.

It has now been five years since he sadly died aged 55 after a long battle with cancer.

One of Jacko's most iconic shirts was recently donated to Rich Watkin, the owner of The Fat Boar chain and Hill Street Social.

The infamous Wrexham shirt is set to be framed and hung on the wall somewhere soon.

A number of fans began to discuss the idea of the club paying tribute to him when the new Kop is built.

Following those conversations, co-chairman Rob McElhenney responded saying that it was something he'd thought a lot about.

The Always Sunny star said: "We’ve thought about this quite a bit. What would be the most fitting tribute?

"I’m taking ideas from the people who loved him most!"

The idea of Jacko being honoured in the new Kop stand would go down very well with Wrexham fans, many who idolised him during his time supporting Wrexham.

A number of fans paid tribute to Jacko and made suggestions for potential plans in the new stand.

Wayne Jones said: "My first memory walking on the Kop as an 11-year-old kid. Hearing Jacko’s voice. An absolute icon of the club.

"No matter how bad things were he was always there rallying the crowd. Not sure how you fittingly honour him but he deserves whatever you kindly decide. Mr Wrexham."

Other suggestions included a mural, a seat being named after him and a turnstile being named after him.
