A DEVOTED couple got married with a wonderful Wrexham AFC themed wedding.
Debbie Roberts, born in Haverfordwest with family connections in Wrexham and Oswestry, met her now husband, Chris, from Wrexham, online in May, 2022.
The happy couple tied the knot on Saturday, July 8, this year at the Wynnstay in Ruabon - but it was no ordinary wedding.
The couple decided on the AFC theme due to Chris, 36, being a long-standing fan since the age of 4 when his Mum was a Steward allowing Chris to sit with the players' families.
Sadly, Debbie, 39, was diagnosed with cancer five-years-ago. She made the decision to tell Chris when the couple had only been together for a short period of time.
She said: "The hardest thing I had to do was tell someone who I liked and wanted to be with that I had cancer but, for the past 14 months, he has stuck by my side.
"We got engaged in Venice last December and decided to get married as soon as possible."
Debbie and Chris sent an email to the club explaining her situation and asked if they could have their wedding photos at the Racecourse Ground.
The pair didn't want to wait so began planning their wedding immediately.
"We wanted to plan the best wedding possible just in case the worst happened", said Debbie.
"Marie and the team at the Wynnstay Arms Ruabon went above and beyond to make our day truly magical. We are forever grateful."
Not to mention the fantastic four-tiered wedding cake and cupcakes, all Wrexham AFC themed, designed and made by 'Bake U A Cake' based in Caergwrle.
