NETWORK Rail has announced they will be working between Wrexham Central and Wrexham General to carry out essential track maintenance.

This work will involve removing and replacing track and ballast (the rocks that secure the track) to help maintain a safe and reliable railway.

Network Rail has started delivering materials and setting up the site and will continue every Sunday up until the main works on Saturday, July 22.

The Leader:

The continuous work listed below is expected to be noisy and disruptive as staff and machinery will be working 24/7 on the railway.

  • Sunday, September 3, until Sunday, September 17 - 12.20am until 8.25am.

The Leader:

Network Rail will need to remove the level crossing at Watery Road during the continuous work so that the existing track can be replaced.

Signage will be placed at these crossings advising of the temporary closures and a clearly signposted diversionary route for vehicles and pedestrians.

The Leader:

During this time all vehicles including emergency vehicles will need to use the diversionary route.

The nature of Network Rail's work often means some noise is unavoidable. Noise will try to be minimised, especially since it will be taking place near homes.
