POLICE are urging Flintshire residents to be vigilant following a recent burglary spate.
North Wales Police is urging people to keep their homes secure after "several" burglaries in the Flintshire area.
The force is also warning people of cars using stolen number plates to avoid detection - with several registration plates recently being stolen in the Wrexham area.
A spokesperson said: "Please ensure you lock your doors not only when going out but also when at home, use timer lights when out, consider window alarms (very cheap - under £10 - and available from most hardware stores or online) many of the targets have gained entry through rear windows in this recent spate of burglaries.
"We need your support to catch these criminals so please report any suspicious behaviour straight away, either by 101, (999 if you think a burglary is in progress) or via web chat. Never take the law into your own hands and try to tackle a suspect - please leave that to us."

They added: "We are also aware that criminals are using cars with stolen number plates to avoid detection, several have been stolen in the Wrexham area. Please check your vehicle registration plates (front and back) frequently and report any stolen right away.
"If you find any number plates discarded anywhere do not touch them and report it to us, and if you see anyone swapping registration plates over again make a note of the car make, colour and registration if you can see them and report it to us - NEVER put yourself in any risk.
"At this busy time of year opportunists are looking for easy targets, don't make it easy for them."
