A FLINTSHIRE student has developed an app that will help others at her school stay organised

Elin created this app independently and on her own initiative, using her creativity and enterprise to develop a fully functioning app that fulfils the need she saw in her peers.
The idea for the app was triggered by a competition in the Alun Eisteddfod. The IT eisteddfod competition was to present ideas for an app for the Alun School. Elin took the concept one step further by designing and building the app herself and offering it for free to students in the school.
Elin's app, which will be freely available to all students in Year 7 next year, allows students to access their email, manage their homework, create a to do list and access their timetable.
As a thank you for developing the app, the school arranged for Elin to undertake work experience with thisdigital.co.uk
During this work experience Elin has been learning how to develop websites and graphic design.

Founded in 2019, This Digital is a Chester-based digital marketing agency started by Harry Philips and Matt Hughes, both ex-Alun pupils. In their fourth year of business, they work with a diverse range of businesses, locally, nationally and globally.
Jane Cooper, Alun School headteacher, said: "I am continually amazed by the ambition and skills showed by our learners as they go above and beyond to demonstrate their capabilities. As a school we encourage our students to be enterprising and to show creativity in their work.
"This app clearly demonstrates Elin's IT skills and I am sure it is only the starting point for her very bright future."
Matt Hughes, director at thisdigital.co.uk added: "We have worked closely with the Alun over the past few years developing their new-look website, which will launch in the autumn. We take developing new talent very seriously and as ex-Alun students ourselves we were more than happy to accommodate a young talented student such as Elin and give her the start she needs in her career."

Elin said: "I have always found working with computers fascinating and spend a lot of my spare time learning about what phones and computers are capable of doing. The eisteddfod competition really inspired me and I loved using my creativity, IT and graphic design skills to put together this app.
"Technology has so much potential to make everyone's lives easier, I hope in future to develop the skills to make this happen."
