FOR many communities, their leisure facilities are incredibly valued by the people they serve.
This was evident back in 2013 when Wrexham's Plas Madoc Leisure Centre was under threat of closure.
Members of the public came out in force to declare what the Acrefair site meant to them, with many having grown up using it, and protesting the plans to see it shut for good.
As the facility still stands and is open - including a full timetable of activities on offer - it's fair to say the voices of the masses were heard.

The Leader's Local Bygones Facebook group shared archive photos from inside the pool area of the centre, taken in the early 1980s, and they got people feeling nostalgic about the centre.
Lots of those commenting were transported back to their younger days, with many highlighting the slide into the water.
Donna Louise Jones: "That slide absolutely freaked me out!! Could never go on it."
Eleanor Denton: "Wow brings back memories. When I was little that slide was the biggest, scariest thing ever - had to look twice at it these pics as looks SO much smaller as an adult."

Karen Griffiths: "Many a time going on it crashed into people who were at the bottom thinking they were out of the way."
Beth Parry: "I remember the slide. It was blue and red! Too scared to go on it though. I remember the current one being built."
Tracey Scourfield: "That blue slide was lethal, must have been a few injuries at the bottom."
Melissa Gough: "I remember that slide, I didn't go on it though, was so scared, so just stayed in the kiddy area."
Lisa Pritchard: "Trying to run past the old slides through the water when people were flying down them at a speed. Got landed on a few times, great memories."
Richard Morris: "I don't remember a slide, perhaps too timid to use it. I do remember the klaxon and wave machine."
But it wasn't just the slide that had readers thinking back fondly...
Martin Sonje: "I remember doing discos in there with the late Colin Huxley, early 80s, great times."
Roberta Rees: "Oh when I was a kid I was always in this pool, then when in my teens the cafe was the hangout place for a lot of us young ones, then on a Saturday night was the roller skating disco. Brings back good memories."
Julian Whitfield: "My nan used to take my bro, sister and myself on bikes to there for the day, then cycle home after back to Little Acton. Great days."
Annie Gabrielle: "It was such a treat going there as a kid."
Jen Morgan: "Watched it being built then spent many hours in there. Then worked there for 12 years."
Alun Jones: "Advanced for its day. Lots of family activities."
And finally, Eddie Pearce is all for creating new memories: "I used to go here as a kid! When visiting my nan, used to love this place!! Has it still got the wave machine? Would love to take my kids here and retrace my steps."
