THE CAUSE of a flat fire in Flintshire that saw a man taken to hospital has been revealed. 

The Leader reported on Sunday evening on the incident which occurred on Willow Court, off Kings Street in Connah's Quay. 

An air ambulance landed at the nearby Connah's Quay Cricket Club, and three fire crews and an aerial ladder attended - alongside police and the ambulance service.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service later confirmed that a man was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation. 

Firefighters were initially called to the incident at 4.10pm, with the blaze out by 6pm. Crews remained at the scene until about 8pm. 

A NWFRS spokesperson said: "Damage to the property is primarily smoke damage. The cause has been investigated – and is deemed accidental due to careless use of cigarette."
