POLICE have fired out a warning regarding the removal of and damage to locks on a gate opposite a Flintshire school.

North Wales Police say they have received a 'number of complaints' regarding the gate on the field opposite Ysgol Nannerch on Village Road, Mold.

Officers have conducted visits to the site recently and met with school staff over concerns that members of the public are using the field when there is no right of way.

They say that, as well as the damage and removal of locks, signage has also been removed from the site.

Should these problems persist, then CCTV cameras could be installed on site in future.

A spokesperson for NWP's South Flintshire team said: "North Wales Police have received a number of complaints with regards to the damage/removal of locks from a wooden gate from the field opposite Ysgol Nannerch. Signage has also been removed.

"We are informed that there is no right of way for members of the public in this field and have conducted a joint visit of the grounds with school staff.

"There is a gap in the hedge line leading to another field where there is a public right of way (accessed by several other points) and we have suggested that this now gets fenced off to prevent person(s) cutting through.

"The field is regularly used by pupils and there has previously been issues with dog fouling in the area. The gate is in place to prevent this and is also used to secure pupils when in use.

"If the damage and removal of signs continues, the school will have no other choice but to start looking at the installation of CCTV and notifying us of their findings."
