PART OF the A525 road had to be closed following a crash this morning (June 24).

North Wales Police say the incident had an impact on the crossroads with the B5430 at Llanarmon Road in Wrexham.

That saw part of the A525 at Ruthin Road closed for over four hours as emergency services dealt with the incident.

The effects were being felt all the way down to the Crown Hotel near Llandegla.

Although the incident took place at around 6.30am this morning, police warned that the road would be closed for 'quite a while'.

A statement from North Wales Police at the time read: "The A525 is closed from the crossroads with the B5430/Llanarmon Road to the Crown Hotel, Llandegla due to an RTC.

"Please avoid the area as the road will be closed for quite a while. Thank you for you assistance with this."

However, an update from the AA's live traffic system has confirmed that the A525 Ruthin Road was re-opened as of 10.50am.

It read: "A525 Ruthin Road both ways re-opened, earlier accident investigation work between Llandegla Forest (Pen-Y-Stryt) and the B5430 (Gwynfryn)."
